Full Conservation of the Painting 'Pink Daisies' by Dorothy K. Stoner, Oil on Canvas, 1955.
The painting had been stored rolled and without tacking margins for an extended period, leading to significant deformation and vulnerability. The goal of the conservation treatment was to restore the expressive surface texture and vibrant colours characteristic of this dynamic oil painting.
The treatment process involved several meticulous steps: an extended period of cleaning back of canvas was followed by careful humidification and flattening. The work was then strip-lined and stretched onto a new custom-made stretcher. Losses were filled and sensitively retouched, with weather-colours and a final protective varnish was applied.
The result is a visually stunning recovery of artwork which gives a lot of joy to the owners.
